Alan Pierce, 62, of Spring Valley, Ill., died July 29 at home due to terminal cancer.

He was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Cheyenne to Max and Jean Pierce.

He married Carol Virgo on May 11, 1968, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley.

Mr. Pierce was a graduate of Central High School.

He was an estimator and office manager for S&J Electric, retiring in 2003. Before that he was an ironworker out of Local 386 in LaSalle, Ill. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 444 of Joliet, Ill., and the former Local 386 of LaSalle. He was also a member of Blood, Sweat and Gears Car Club of the Illinois Valley and was a motorcycle flat-track racer.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Carol Pierce of Spring Valley; mother, Jean Pierce of Tustin, Calif.; two daughters, Angela Pierce of Bloomington, Ill., and Terry Ramey of Mark, Ill.; sister, Susan Eklof of Tustin, Calif.; brother, Les Pierce of Bellflower, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and an infant daughter, Audrey Loraine Pierce.

Burial was in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.
