Larry Lee Pope

Larry Lee Pope, 60, died of leukemia April 9, 2006, at his home in Gillette, Wyoming.

He was born Sept. 23, 1945, in Cheyenne, the son of Alvin and Helen (Bridwell) Pope. He was raised and educated in Cheyenne.

He married Susan Goepfert in 1964. The couple later divorced.

Mr. Pope married Julia Van Patten on April 15, 1982, in Gillette, where they lived.

Mr. Pope was an IBEW Local 415 electrician since 1965. Working as an electrician his entire life, he spent more than 10 years working at the Campbell County School District.

He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping and the Bighorns.

Mr. Pope is survived by his mother of Cheyenne; his wife Julia of 24 years; three daughters, Shelly Diehl of Gillette, Lisa Gustafson of Windsor, Colo., and Candace Buday of Lewistown, Mont.; five sons, Matthew Pope of Cheyenne, Kevin Pope of Billings, Mont., Tim Pope of Bucharest, Romania, Charlie Van Patten of Gillette and Travis Van Patten of Laramie; one brother, Duane Pope of Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his father and one infant brother, Raymond.

The funeral took place at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Gillette.

A second service was held at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.
