Ronald Tyler, 40, disappeared while visiting his mother in Casper Feb. 13 and his body was found east of Casper.
Tyler, a Gillette man, had been missing nearly a month before his body was found.
He was a 1963 graduate of Cheyenne Central High School.
Russell Houser of Cheyenne, a longtime friend and fellow graduate of Tyler's, said the latter also had attended McCormick Junior High.
Houser said Tyler had lived in Gillette for about seven years, working as an oilfield and coal mine welder, but was unemployed at the time of his death.
Tyler was not married and is survived by a mother and sister, both of Casper.
